Anybody ever made a convertible or roadster out of a Bump?

Post by tsherry »

Just curious...I haven't seen a single Bump with the roof removed, doors modded, etc. There are so many Bumps going for next to nothing around here, I'm thinking about an experiment with one...
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

or, money.

Yep, it's been done. I've seen one or two here through the years. And there were several hundred of the Good Humor bumpside trucks made:

I'd still say go for it though.

Also, if you watch the Road Warrior movie (or Mad Max... whichever the 2nd one is where he drives the fuel truck), there is a pretty cool modified convertible 70 bumpside that the bad guys drive in that movie...

Someone on the board has a '69 with a 7" chop. Think he might be a moderator ... Anyway, it's way beyond anything I want to do, but man, it looks sweet!

Ah, seeing that dentside hotrod reminded me of the bumpside one that was done as well. This one was done using a 67 F100

Here's mine as a vert' (and no windshield) before I welded on another roof. I wish I had taken more pics, but it was raining hard that day. It looked good though IMO.

Is anyone making roadster or convertible or lift-off kits for bumps ? Several years ago there were quite a few for more modern trucks.

If you mean like a removable roof ala 66-77 Broncos, then no... none that I know of at least.

Say, you can be the first! It'd need a safety hoop(s) like newer convertibles lest the unthinkable happens...
