Anyone Use a HVLP Turbine System to Paint Truck?

Post by colnago »

So I'm trying to figure out if I need an air compressor the size of my house to paint my truck, or whether I should pay someone to do it, and my brother mentions a HVLP turbine system. I can get one just about everywhere for under $500, but since it's new to me, I figured I'd better ask the pros (that's you guys, if you're reading this post  ). So, does anyone know what I'm talking about, and does anyone have any opinions on these toys?

Thanks,

Joseph

I have painted two vehicles with an inexpensive HVLP and only a 20 gallon, 5hp compressor with zero problems. A good filter/moisture remover is a must!!!!

if you get one, get some training with it.... I had been painting with an old school gun and tried a turbine.... paint looked like crap and I was displeased.

Other issues like warm air (which change the reducer type) can cause the finish to be unsatisfactory, so the more you know before hand the better off you are.
