I repainted the black part of the emblem with a small can of gloss black. To apply it I used a hobbyist syringe that I found at Ace Hardware. Thin the paint out a bit with Acetone to about the consistency of milk, suck it up in the cylinder and apply it carefully. With all the pitting in the metal, I had to go back and do some touch up with a small paint brush the next day.

Here's mine.

All I did was clean it good, and I used rubber cement as a resist on the chrome part I didnt want to paint:
With a small paint brush, paint the rubber cement onto all the parts you dont want painted. It's like masking it off with rubber cement, after you spray your paint, all you do is rub off the rubber cement and the paint comes with it. Lousy explantation maybe.

all I did was mask the outer portion then spray the whole thing. Then put a little thinner on a paper towel and wipe off the the exess. all the black parts are lower and retain the paint.

Would it be that your hood badges are later model illuminated? Most 1967's are not.
Cool idea...
