Replacing Floor pans and Front Cab Mount Supports

When replacing the front cab mounts supports and floor pans. Are the floor pans marked on where to put the replacement front cab mount support on the new floor pan?

they are not marked. When i replaced mine, i took pics and measurements of the old ones before i ripped them out. I think that it would depend where you purchase your replacement parts also. I purchased mine from Dennis Carpenter.com and had no problem with the fit. Very little tweeking to get them right. It was the first time i tackled such a job. I'm sure the guys will reply to your post to give you more help. This site is where i learn how to do it.

If you can put it on the frame square it up, then snug up the body mount bushings, they will be in the right place when you weld them in.

Somewhere here there's a "body builder's" spec sheet that I believe might have the dimensions you're looking for.
For some reason i can't find it this morning. Also Jerry and a handful of other guys here have successfully done the cab mounts. Maybe they'll chime in here with some help.

When I did mine....I center marked the lip(top/bottom seam of cab)on the cab and measured spacing of the original. I believe I got mine from Mac's because it's not going to be a DD to me.....if it were,I would strongly advise using DC's...for the money,they look like they can handle the daily elements. I've had the cab on the frame since and they appear to be fine..although it was just a mock up. If I need to, I will redrill and weld washers in for strength. Fit the floor pan's to whatever you need to replace.....do not just lay them in there and weld....butt welds are better than lap weld

I'm going to be tackling this project soon. I put bolts through each of the mounts and drilled pieces of wood to fit from both of the rear mounts to each of the front to essentially triangulate them. I figure once I cut everything out and weld in the floors I can just use the wood with holes predrilled to locate where the new mount is supposed to go.

I did it without experience as well. The key is to just measure everything in every possible way about a hundred times, tack weld, and check again until you are certain you can make everything permanent. When I did it I welded in the floor pans and then put the cab on the frame to tack in the cab mounts to make sure I had everything lined up and level. Once I had everything perfect and tack welded, I removed the cab and finished the welds.

That is how I did mine. Welded in the floor, then bolted the cab mounts to the frame, put the cab in place, bolted up the rear mounts measured everything to make sure, then welded in the mounts.

What's driving your opinion of the butt welds being better than lap welds?

I will have quite a bit of my floor pans to replace, as well as both front cab mounts. My welding skills are pretty amateur so I am a bit nervous about cutting out and replacing this much stock metal.

Currently, my plan of attack would be to cut out the existing mounts and floor pans, welding in the new pans (or at least the sections needing replaced), and then setting the cab back on the frame. With the cab on the frame, I will position the new front cab mounts into place and tack weld them to the floor / fire wall, pull the cab back off and finish welding.

Can someone shoot some holes in that plan, or does it sound ok? Just looking for some feedback.

Concerning the floor pan ,i lap welded mine. My understanding is that if it is not for show quality ,butt welding is not necessary. I used 1/2 lap and stitched it inside and out. Grind down the weld and put seam sealer on welded seam underneath cab. After prepping inside of cab i used bondo glass on seam,sanded and painted. Being new to this also, that's just the way i choose to get it done.
