patching the fuel fill hole

Post by randyj68 »

Just wanted some experienced input. I no longer could deal with the in cab gas tank, it had to go, now to patch the filler neck hole. Looking at some.options at the parts store im finding some screen patches to go with bondo, fiberglass kits or should metal be welded in? Thanks in advance.

Cut a pattern out of cardboard and then trace it onto the same gauge mild steel as the cab. MIG weld it in and finish with a skincoat of bondo.

I did the bigger patch for contour(also stole metal from another cab)of the cab,but you can get away with just the hole, but definatly weld metal back in there before you bondo.....not ductape and spray foam   as the PO of my truck did with the cab corner
I've had enough and I'm not alone
