fuel filler door placement

Post by 1968f250429 »

Hello everyone, I have a question, I have a 68 f250 that i put on a 79 4x4 chassis.
I am trying to put the fuel doors from this year truck in mine and would like some pictures from others who have used this type of door.
pictures from start to finish would be great. as i am not sure what all will need to be cut out of the bed to install these.
my truck has the aux. tank hole cut in the bed just need to know what else needs cut. thanks, Beau

I had mine done also. Only have after install pics. 67mann's is more accurate to your project since his bed will be like yours with the higher cover in the bed.

Here is mine which is a 72 bed: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &start=120

Hi guys!

I have a '72 F250 which the PO had a couple aftermarket auxillary tanks installed (one on either side / outside the frame, near the front of the box). The fuel filler doors are those rivetted-on aluminum doors. Not pretty! I have been thinking of replacing them with original-style ones like you guys have, but I don't see them in any of the usual aftermarket suppliers catalogs. Do you know if they are they available anywhere new? Or do I have to find and cut them out of "donor" trucks from the pick-n-pulls? I'm a bit lazy in that regard.

Thanks!

I think the best results come from finding a dentside donor to cut the door out of. That s where mine is from.

Rattlecan fourn a place that sells them and he was able to retrofit. I am unsure how much work it is or how well they fit. Here is the place: http://www.haganauto.com/fuel_doors_gas_lid_s/5.htm

Here is his project link: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 4&start=60
