i guess nobody has ever done this kind of repair if this is the only answer i get

no I have'nt repair a hood like that.. but like hio said body work is body work ..chop, cut .reweld, grind,bodo, primer, sand, paint,wet sand, buff , and smile at work
or get another hood and strip, hopefuly litte bodo. primer,sand,paint,wet sand. buff. and smile at work

I agree with finding a better hood. That area is gonna be a lot of work to try to repair.

I would never repair rotted metal. There are too many donor parts available to waste labor repairing toasted metal. Rust never sleeps.

You might try Flashback F100's in Reidsville.

search here, there's atleast a half dozen in your state. Whether there close or not, IDK.

When I got to the hood of my 68 F100 I found that the rolled under drip edges were the same way on both sides from front to back just like yours. I decided to inspect the hood front edge and in that inspection I found that the entire front edge was rusted out and the only thing holding it together was the paint. The only answer was find a replacement hood. It took me about a month to find one. And I did on Ebay. It came out of California. Including shipping cost all total I paid $400 dollars and it took 10 days to get to me in GA by bus. The hood was in excellent condition and had a little surface rust. It cleaned up great. I'll send you another reply with the guy's name and information. He deals only in Ford's.

thanks, i will keep this in mind. I'll go this route if i have to.

I've got the same problem on mine. I haven't seen any replacement sections in any of the catalogues and it seems like it would be really difficult to line everything up correctly when welding it back together.

Mine is only rusted through in a few places. I have been considering cleaning it up and using some fiberglass to fill the holes.

I would much rather find a good hood, but it seems like all of these trucks rust out in this place.
