Seam seal

Post by R.Smith »

Ok..stupid question. I'm preparing to totally strip and paint my bump and have run into a dillema! After I gouge out all the all seam seal in the roof gutter and various seams in the bed ect...what do I apply first...the seam seal, the primer then the seal or do I prime, paint seal and repaint???

Thanks.

Ive never painted before, but I would think you would need to get down to bare metal, seal, then prime, then paint and clear. that is how bondo works. Could be that the sealer works better one primer though? what kind of seal are you using, mine needs all new seals as well.

The clue to the answer is that the seam sealer provides asolutely no rust protection when in in contact with bare metal. So it would make sense to primer first...seal....reprimer....and paint in my opinion
