Vinyl Car Wrap: What do you think?

Post by cloudwalker »

I always knew companies would use vinyl car wraps for advertising but I never thought about using it over the entire surface of the car. There are many different varieties available such as carbon fiber, chrome, matte black, blue, green, etc. I am just curious, what do you think? (I am not considering this for my own vehicle as it already has a good paint job.

I think if I were going to go that route, I would have it professionally done.

Kind of a cool idea. I wouldn't do it on my truck, but on the minivan, maybe. Sounds like it could be a PITA to put on, which makes me wonder how they do it. I also wonder how well it holds up over time. Know anyone who's done it?

I used to work for a company that did this. It was such a pain in the ass that they eventually stopped. The vinyl will not last as long as paint...epecially the printing, which tends to fade quickly. It will eventually shrink and crack. And if you ever decide to take it off...uuggghhhhhhhhhhh. Be prepared for a mess. I've never seen the stuff come off withut leaving at least half the glue on the vehicle. The company I worked for also refused to letter vehicles that required stripping. 3 people spending a week with heat guns and gallons of glue remover jsut isn't cost effective.

Just my 2 cents.
