Ford truck newby question

I am about to go look at what is supposed to be a 1970 F100 Sport Custom. Honestly I am not sure the guy knows what year it is, so i will be taking my iPad with me and decoding the vin on site. I know the 68 to 72 Chevy's like to rust in the rockers and cab corners. What do I look for on a late 60's early 70's Ford? In skimming thru the post titles here there seem to be a few about body mounts, is that a good place to start?

Just like the Chevrolet everywhere on a truck that old is prone to be rusted away. Check every inch closely.

I would check out anywhere the weight of the cab or bed sits on the frame. The worst culprit are the front cab mounts. Then rear cab mounts, rocker panels, the cross members under the bed where the bed bolts go through, door pillars and floor pans. Floor pans are easy enough to get and replace. Door pillars, the part where the rocker connects to the cab are not so easy to find and difficult to replace. Front cab mounts can be purchased but can be a real project to replace. Also radiator support. The sheet metal above, around and under the battery box is commonly toast. If you don't have access to a shop or welder, really evaluate those places carefully because if you can't fix 'em right, it's more trouble than it's worth. Sargentrs - I spent that first night on here reading your project thread. Great read. And now I have read Tyler's too. That's the real beauty of the internet to me. So many people willing to help others with the same hobbies! If this truck turns out to be a bad deal and I don't get it, I feel like I have already lived some of the Ford experience thru you guys.

One question though, and please don't shoot me. Where does "bump" come from?

Welcome, and don't worry. Ammo is far to expensive these days to use on shooting people for asking questions :p

"Bump" comes from the decorative raised bump that runs the length of the trucks, hence "bumpside"

'60-'66 are "slicks", '67-'72 are "bump sides", '73-'79 are "dent sides" because the body line is recessed in the same place ours have "bumps". Thanks for checking out my project. And I also asked the "what does bump mean" question when I started posting to this site. I knew what a style side, step side, was as that was all we called them when I was a little younger, but I had no idea what bump stood for until I asked.
