Under seat implement placement

Post by 71PA_Highboy »

Under the seat there are a few hold downs.... does anyone have a pick/diagram of the factory layout of said implements in their hold downs?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the jack was always under the hood on the DS fender all the way from 67 through 79. Maybe the jack handle was mounted under the seat-but I can't find any info in the factory literature here? Seems like the dents I'd owned (3) had the jack handles also attached to the DS inner fender. Not real sure but it will be interesting to find out, as my cab had no "extra" holes or indents where mounts would have been when I was at that point:

Mine has 2 "1/4x20" studs sticking up and has a clip screwed to the floor, inside the seat mounting area.

I will try to get pics.

If you think about it underseat stowage for the jackhandle and lug wrench made a lot of sense with an in cab tank. Mount the jack on the fender under the hood and the rest under the seat. If I remember right those two studs would have been equipped with wingnuts to hold down a folded jack handle. And the larger clip would have secured the lug wrench. Just some thoughts I had from remembering some loose jack handles and lug wrenches in the cab when I was helping cut wood as a kid.

Here are a few photos of my truck, this is where they were when I took my seat and mat out see how good my floors were. This is pretty much factory original, hope it helps.

My 67 is set up just like Atlas's (without the perfect paint job), with the jack under the hood on the left fender.

Wonder if my jack still works!

Jeff, I wonder if yours is different because it is a 350 dually with a switch for an aux gas tank.

The paint under there was like new , (as good as it got for the factory) it was as shiny as the hood in most areas .

Now I see! That's AtlasExcavating, not just another Atlas!

Thought you were a new member with a fresh paint job, but I recognize that blue baby with the floor shifter.

Probably another one of those "red-headed / step-child / F-350 / DRW" things!

I changed my handle to make it shorter to type , after my whole history of anything I ever did on here was gone,(which apparently was never figured out). Everything was wiped out. Almost 4 years of history and hundreds of photos. Sort of took the wind out of my sails a bit, my work has been keeping me pretty busy and that's kept me away from the typewriter too :) Oh well it gives me lots of excuses to load more photos again and not feel like I'm repeating myself.
