1970 F100 Custom VIN# on Frame
I know that this topic has been beat to death. I went to the DMV today to verify the VIN of my 1970 F100 Custom, and the chuckle heads did not feel comfortable verifying the VIN number. My VIN# is located just even with the starter on the upper rail of the frame on the passenger side. The DMV said that that location is reserved for a 4 Wheel drive vehicle and that my truck, a 2 wheel drive the VIN should be just even with the alternator on the frame of the passenger side. My VIN is displayed on the frame rail as mention above and is *F10ADH51912 . Additionally the people at the DMV said that the Consecutive Unit Number looks as though it has been stamped by hand due to the inconstancy of the number H51912, and that the numbers should be more uniform like the *F10AD. Furthermore they tell me that the there should be a star or asterisk before and after the number. I have attached a photo of my VIN# as it stands on my upper frame rail passenger side just after the firewall, even with my starter of my 240 CID motor. Can someone please tell me with any certainty that this is the original stamping of my trucks VIN# on the frame? also whkat can I say to the chuckles at the DMV to convince them that this is in fact the actual VIN#.

It wont let me upload the photo of the VIN. File too big, I will have to resize the photo.

2 hours at the KS DMV yesterday and they finally found the additional VIN# on the top frame rail under the passenger side of the cab. I knew that it would be there, just made them do the work. Now Im ready to get tags. Whoo Hoo!

Wow, that's kind of funny in a sad way. MD the DMV doesn't look, they just shuffle papers and make you wait in long lines.
