Western Mirror Mount Gaskets?

Post by Ranchero50 »

For those with them or have taken them off, what have you seen used for gaskets?

Most of the two peice small mirrors I've taken off have had black plastic gaskets. My '70 F350 has clear ones that don't look hand made. :hmm:

Just wondering

Ive pulled two sets off trucks thats had repaints. One of them had red rubber for a gasket, the other had black rubber. Both looked like homemade replacements. Have no idea of what factory materal was.

These are the 'gaskets'. They don't really seal. They're more like spacers to keep the lower bracket from making contact with the paint. The material is hard plastic, and about the same thickness as a quarter.
