I just painted my hood on my 1972 F-250 RangerXLT and I've got the front hood trim molding back on, but
the molding is in 3 pieces. The left and right side pieces have a screw which is supposed to screw into something,
but I've apparently lost the special nut that they screw into. Does anyone know where I can get replacements?
Or does anyone have any other ideas for fastening these?
I think the piece I need is numbered 291B80 in Ford's literature. And the hood molding piece is numbered: DOTZ-16856-B
at least the right hand one...
Attached is a schematic that shows what I'm looking for.

Look in the LMC catalog on page 67. They have it all.

Good try... However, they don't show the nut I'm looking for on p. 67. They have a complete set and they imply that it comes with all
fasteners; but I don't need that... They show the spring clips with their nuts, but not the (expandable?) nut that mates with the long screw...
So, I'll give them a call to make sure...
Okay, I just talked to them. They don't think they have it. Looks like it doesn't even come in their complete kit either. It doesn't really
show on their schematic, which is not quite as good as the one I've included...
-----------------------------------------------
UPDATE: I went down to the hardware store and bought a couple of nuts with lock-washers mounted (8-32); spotted a couple Well-nuts that
were also 8-32, so I picked up a couple of those; and a 1 1/8" hole saw and the matching integrated drill bit. The Well-nuts fit
perfectly in the little hole in the hood, but they didn't really compress right, they pulled out and I didn't feel like glueing them in and
finding out they still wouldn't work; so, I drilled a couple new access holes in the corners of the hood, which is what Ford should have
done at the factory and used a needle-nose pliers to get the nuts started. Only took about 10 minutes total!

Well darn, I was hoping I had helped you out. The search continues.
Maybe a parts truck will pop up on here that somebody will sell you part.
