Dent bed floor in a bump?

Post by Kurt Combs »

I have this really nice 77 F-150 bed, with a really nice floor. I measured it today and the center ribbed part is about an eighth of an inch narrower than a bump and about a half inch longer. I'm thinking plasma cutter, a little fitting, mig welder, and I will have a cherry floor in my bump! It would also require a little grinding, but a nice bump bed is hard to find. :D

The largest problem I see would be the mounting holes. There is a difference between the bump and dent. Not a real big problem. Keep your crossmembers/supports & use them for a pattern to drill new holes. Weld the others shut.

I think if I was going to go that far I'd put a wood floor in it, but then I like that look.

Yep, on the firewall just seperate the floor from the cowl and weld the peices in. Mine is partially a '78 Bronco because I don't like the aftermarket cab mounts so I grafted both front floors in less the hump so the structure wouldn't move too much.. :)

Hey, I like that idea. In fact, can't you get flareside beds for a bump? It seems I just saw a photo somewhere recently.
