Bed Side Bump
On both sides of my bed, where the bump meets the side of the bed on top (like where the top edge of the side chrome strip would be if I had it) , it looks like there is a groove with some sort of ..epoxy or something in it. is this normal? I've dug part of it out, its rusty
. I can take a picture if I am not making myself clear.

Here's one of many discussions about that. I hope yours hasn't rusted through!

Ah ha! Ok so I'm not goin crazy...I had this horrifying idea that the PO had epoxied on a patch panel or something. I'm gonna have to get in there and scrape it out to see how bad it is. It doesn't LOOK that bad (which means its probably rotted
) but it definitely needs to be cleaned out and rust converter \ primed etc.
I see you are in Seattle, I'm in Kent up on the east hill.

Ha, another bump owner in the Puget Sound region! There's a few of us around...I hope to be able to drive mine to a meet and greet this year.SmoothJ69 wrote:

Curious, how many bumps in your area? There's at least 8 here within a half mile radius.
The best tool I found was a knotted wire wheel, 4 or 5", I was able to grind it narrower on a grinding wheel while both were spinning. Made it narrow enough to get pretty far into that groove. Ya gotta get pretty creative, it's deep.
Good luck, hope this weather holds, and show us photos if you can of the progress!

2 that I know of within a couple blocks of me. One is a work truck complete with lumber rack, the other one sits behind a fence so I can't really get a good look at it. I see a LOT of late 70's F-trucks running around though.
