Grill for '72 Ranger.
The grill and inserts on my '72 Ranger is in sad shape so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what could be used to make a decent looking home made grill to use until I can get a replacement grill and inserts.
Any photo's will also be greatly appreciated.

Send me a P.M. I'll see if I can help you out with a replacement grille. If P.M. does not go through try49FordF1 wrote:The grill and inserts on my '72 Ranger is in sad shape so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what could be used to make a decent looking home made grill to use until I can get a replacement grill and inserts.

you might be surprised if you just get some expanded metal at HD or wherever, paint it chrome and cut to fit the openings of your grill (where the inserts go)

This is something like I was thinking about so I can put more into getting it running good and dependable before I start spending money for cosmetics.Phil105 wrote:you might be surprised if you just get some expanded metal at HD or wherever, paint it chrome and cut to fit the openings of your grill (where the inserts go)

Re: Grill for '72 Ranger.
I just posted about a guy that built one for a GMC sonoma. I'm going to give it a shot soon (hopefully this month). I'll keep you posted.

Here's what I did with mine - put expanded metal behind grill - painted the metal chrome49FordF1 wrote:This is something like I was thinking about so I can put more into getting it running good and dependable before I start spending money for cosmetics.Phil105 wrote:you might be surprised if you just get some expanded metal at HD or wherever, paint it chrome and cut to fit the openings of your grill (where the inserts go)

Then made a piece to fill in the horizontal bar and painted it red - looks good to me and very cheap to do.

Re: Grill for '72 Ranger.
Thanks Bill. To me, the 72 grill leaves a lot to be desired - they are too "open". I thought adding the expanded metal and the red crossbar added a lot to it.billbates40 wrote:Phil that looks great!!

Yessir - clean and simple was the plan! Wasn't looking for "bling" - just wanted to improve a little on the appearance.
