Finishing Floor pans

Post by whiteblur »

Any of you guys ever fixed your pans and welded up your holes and patched spots then ground all your welds done and used filler on the floor pans? I got my cab back from being blasted and the pans are pitted, not bad at all. I welded all my rust holes, and patched 2 very small areas. Got every thing ground down and ready to clean clean around the welds and scuff for filler. Plan to have all my filler work done this week and primed Friday afternoon. Just curious if any one has any tips or lessons learned. Going to be using Evercoat rage. For got to mention im smoothing to bottom of the cab also since it will be painted as well.

If it's a show rig, then yeah I would treat the bottom the same as a body panel. Attention to detail and quality workmanship woudl be required on every part of the truck.

If it's going to be a clean daily driver however, I wouldnt' waste time on the floor pans and opt to clean up the welds and spray a nice undercoating (tinted/colored even) like Lizard Skin or Line-X.
