Front Bumper

Will a front bumper off a 73 fit a 71 ? Both are half ton. Found a perfect one on a 73 today in the salvage yard.

They are the same I believe. Somebody else can confirm that.
How much would you pay for a junkyard bumper in Texas?

73-77 were the same.

They changed in 78. That was the year they added a rubber bumper strip.

Physically, I think even the 78-79 will bolt up, but they don't look the same.

Can someone ID my front bumper? It has the shape of the contour all the way to the end. All other bumpers I have seen "flatten" out on the end. In other words the contour fades away at the very end but mine continues through.

I am not positive but I think that the later bumper is one inch bigger in the width. Don't know how to explain this! It is going to fit and look good but if you are running bumperettes or plan to they will be too small. If you don't like those things you have no problem!

That is pretty close except that rubber strips came out on the earlier style bumper as an option and so it is not just the later square bumpers that have the rubber. Also note that it was still an option the square bumpers as well and so most of them do not have the rubber. Finally, only the 4X4 F250 really got a revised frame midway through 77, other frames had minor changes along the way but a 79 frame fits a 73 just fine except for the F250 4X4 and there are no major differences in mounting pints etc....
