You could try fixing them yourself! Save yourself tons of money and give yourself some pride!

1. Cut the rusted metal out in an easy shape, square/rectangle
2. Buy replacement sheet metal of the same gauge
3. Tack weld into place
4. Weld the rest of the perimeter
5. Grind the welds smooth

This is a good place to do this since 1. It's not structural, 2. It will be covered up

I'd give it a shot! But this is coming from someone who has never welded but has been wanting to take a night class at a community college so I could do things like this.

I had to replace the same part of floor that you will do. I was like you, unexperinced and have not work with metal before. I bought myself a mig welder and gave it a shot. I practiced on some scrap metal before i got started on the project. As for parts, i purchased the pan and cab mount from Dennis Carpenter.com. I must say that there was very little tweaking to get the parts to fit. The parts were more costly than other vendors but sure was worth the price since they were such a good fit. Just do your homework before getting started and you will be fine. Also patience is a virtue. Keep searching this site and the guys on here really are helpful This site is how i learn how to do everything myself. Good luck!!! :fr:

I don't know the gauge either, but you'll be able to find it on here I'm sure. You can buy metal in sections that will fit your application from Tractor Supply/Lowes/Home Depot or online. A mig welder would be the way to go!

Replacement floor pans will be expensive. True, the startup cost to get the welder and all will be more expensive, but I have a feeling that that isn't the only rust on the vehicle. Plus you'll have a cool skill! Doing it yourself will save you tons of money in the end.

Yea, The cab needs floor pans, cab corners, cab mount supports, and cab floor supports. I'm looking into getting the Hobart 140 from tractor supply for $499.99.

I watched this video, as well as part 2 for an idea of the difficultly of welding.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpMEtZz2uYU[/video]

I think $400 will get you a nice welder, I'm no expert, but I bet you could find one for less. What I do know is make sure it'll work for the outlet! A lot of welders are hi amperage/hi voltage, so make sure you won't blow a fuse. People will mention these in the reviews, or there will be talk of "home use," etc. etc.

I'm excited for you, I hope it works and it should save you money! Post pictures of your work too! :D
