Wheels and hubcaps...

Post by sublimer »

So, this is Lucy

I believe these are the orignal wheels. I want to strip the paint, put some rust converter on it, and paint it white again. But I also want some hubcaps. Which hubcaps came on the '68s? Also, how do they attach? :hmm:

P.S., anyone selling hubcaps

I do not think those are original, but they do look good.

Search the site and you will see original wheels and hubcaps. I gather from what I have seen here that 2-wheel-drive bumps all came with 5-bolt wheels, while 4WD bumps had 8 lugs.

My signature photo shows the wheel and hubcap for standard and custom cab models.

For what it is worth, I have four rusty original models and two chrome versions.

Great looking truck!

4x2/4x4 doesn't decide what lug pattern a truck has, GVWR does. F-100's got 5 lug wheels. F-250's/F-350's got 8 lug wheels.

The hub caps fit over tabs that are stamped with the rest of the shape of the wheel. These aren't bump wheels but the area in red illustrates the tab.

Edit: After looking further at the website I took the picture from; it turns out this wheel does fit our trucks.

FYI....Summit Racing carries Wheel Vintiques' Series 62 steel wheels in 5 x 5.5. About $83 each. I just bought two 15x8s and confirm that they accept the 10-inch or so hubcaps. I'll be using the stock wheels in front with 215/70-15s and rears will be 275/60-15s.

Thanks for the details...I think I may just redo the wheels I currently have.
