American Camo Paint

Post by Ryan_1 »

So i think i have figured out how im gonna paint the cab on my truck after i sand the whole thing down and fix the rust holes and etc.

How does a Red, White, And Blue Camo truck sound, i know its not original, but i think it would kind of show off that its an ALL American truck.

What do you all think?

It would be different, that's for sure. If you can find a good camo pattern to copy, you might be able to pull it off.

The key is a good pattern. If you free hand it, it might come out looking like a clown car. :2cents:

The red and white sounds cool! I think you should paint the fenders and box red and the rest of it white. Then instead of blue camo, put a big red leaf on the doors! Ya that would look awesome!

The "trick" with painting camouflage is to avoid painting a pattern (shape, size, and direction). IMO, an All-American paint scheme shouldn't be bright but rather lighter tones of red (uh, pink) and blue with white. In the end it should look washed out. If using bright red and a vivid hue of blue, it might turn out a bit "cartoony". Your call.

Here's my Dentside using Krylon's Camo paint series. I spent some time online researching different patterns and even spent some time in the woodlands observing the shades and shadows created by trees. I then penciled it out and after painting a large area, I walked away like 75 feet and squinted my eyes to fuzz up my vision to evaulate whether what I painted suggested a shape or actually broke it up.

My 70 won't be camo.. it will be repainted back to OEM "New Lime"

Check
http://www.vintagemilitarytrucks.com/Ch ... k_Page.htm
for pattern

and
http://www.vintagemilitarytrucks.com/M1 ... aPorte.htm
for colors

You could sub Red for brown, white for tan, and blue for black.... and with this pattern you might pull off the look you want...

or...

You could use DARK Red for brown, Antique cream for tan, and DARK Blue for black... and it would appear to be a more 'functional' looking patriotic camo...

or...

you could use the Army's actual color scheme and paint the bump as a long flag banner...
and/or paint a draped flag over the hood... if you want a different sort of patriotic look.
