The picture of the 1970 F-250 4X4 in the header of the Factory Literature Library looks to me to be purple, I have never seen one this color, also their is no 70 paint chip this color. Also it is in the 1970, 1971 and 1972 Ford Truck Salesman's brochure showing the exact same picture with a 1970, 1971 or 1972 grill in the truck, I guess ford also liked to customize colors and swap parts to make an older truck look new. Who would thought it.
Here's pictures of the 70 and 72, the 71 is in the Salesman's brochure, go look for yourself.
I am of an age now that most of life's lessons were learned the hard way;
Life is hard, but it’s harder when you’re stupid.
Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear or a fool from any direction.
Never ask how stupid someone is 'cause they'll turn around and show you.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
If you had the choice “Looks or Brains” take the Brains, Looks will get you thru the first half, but Brains will last a lifetime.
That color is probably a misrepresentation of royal maroon. There was a lot of recycling and airbrushing going on in those old brochures. The interior pics in the main 67 brochure are a good example. It wasn't til 69 that an accurate pic of the base instrument cluster found its way into the brochure. I just found a pic in another 67 brochure showing a 67 box with a 66 tailgate.
