Pick-n-Pull success
Stopped at a local yard today and found a set of replacement hood springs for my 69 F250 bump...they hold the hood high enough to keep my head out of the latch when I'm under there...not all the way up, but higher than with the old springs. Still looking for a drivers side inside door latch though, mine bit the dust the other day...the little arm/knob has seen too many miles/acres/wear-n-tear.

Re: Pick-n-Pull success
Really appreciate the new springs, but I still keep my old faithful wooden prop under the hood, too. One of the replacement springs was a bit shorter and larger diameter than my old springs. Might be a big box store spring...it was tougher to get on the hinges, but it works good.

Re: Pick-n-Pull success
my hood springs are shot as well. Does anyone know of any that came on another kind of car that would have stronger springs? Will 73-79 springs fit?

Re: Pick-n-Pull success
Im looking forward to my new hinges and inner fenders. my whole hinge is toast so it sags bad! Pin is popped outta one and springs are weak on both. My new inners got new special springs being they are 78/9 inners and left those hinges on inners. all lines up good just firewall mounts away from being ready for the swap. already mocked up on the test goat!! Everything is lining good on it so maybe little tweaking involved for Rustbucket but itll all work out!!

Re: Pick-n-Pull success
I just put new tires on the bump and changed the tires size from 225/65/16 to 265/65/16 and that nasty hood latch mechanism is now higher off the ground! So when I check the oil I don't hit my head, I still use vise grips on the hinges when working under the hood. It was a pleasant surprise when I discovered the new tires helped with the hood latch clearance.
