Rubber strips on inner fender wells

Post by fireslayerf22efd »

I have the front clip off my '67 and I have purchased the new rubber strips that are stapled on the inner fender wells. The new rubber strips came with new staples. Any suggestions on how to install the new strips? Thanks

I drilled 1/4" holes in my inner fenders and strips and used alumium rivets backed up by a stainless steel washer on the rubber side.

Good evening FireSlayerf22efd,

Bobby's approach sounds like it would produce a superior finished product than what the factory did.

When I re-did those flaps on my inner fenders, I tried to follow the factory's approach. Not because I wanted it to look 100% original; just 'cause I didn't (and don't) have the initiative and know-how that Bobby has to whip up something custom. And I actually found attaching those flaps to be quite a brain-twister.

Maybe you'll find these threads of interest:

Could I ask for advice on installing my inner fenders?

That's a good quality way , but most new cars use plastic push in retainers. (christmas trees)
it still requires drilling ,but you don't need a rivet gun. :2cents:
