As I understand the process they are to be installed in the rubber prior to installing the windshield. I have seen quite a few posts here to the effect.

could you not get the strips to fit inside the windshield stripping? i remember throwing some rubber in the oven to try and get it plyable. did this with some radiator hoses and some spark plug boots and a few other parts. if you do this watch your parts like a hawk and start out with low heat - i wouldn't do above a hundred degrees in the oven. and also if you can elevate your rubber pieces on a tray like on some wire stands on top of a tray, keeps a flat hot surface from ruining said piece. if you're having a tough time getting them to insert, try greasing those babys up. warm soap water(dish soap). use some real grease or vaseline? you may need to get a helper or two to press them in? (6 to 8 arms simultaniously) i don't know man i've never installed them before on our trucks - done other cars though. and none of the ones i installed had trim that actually inserted into the stripping that was the seal for glass.

I noticed the NOS windshield weatherstrip I sold last summer was MUCH more pliable than the 2 aftermarket ones I have.
A longshot, but if all else fails might be worth looking for. Green Sales? The part # was 'C7TZ-8103110-B W/STRIP'.
Every window replacement I've had (now on #3) the first thing they ask "Does it have the trim..."
Many won't touch it.

It isn't easy, takes a lot of patience, tapping with a rubber mallet, and it seems like several hours.

Well, I have the trim in very good condition and was getting ready to order my new rubber since my crew needs it. But with all of this being said about how hard this is, maybe I should just order the standard rubber and scrap the trim?

Is there anyone with a non-horror story regarding trying to reapply the trim?
