Rust between the Drip rail and windshield trim
Does anyone else have this issue? If I'm looking at my driver's side upper windshield trim, there appears to be some pretty bad rust in between that trim and the chrome drip rail. It looks like it is supposed to have some type of sealer in there. It has been painted over and now has rust developing pretty significantly. Is this common? Is there anything to do but pull out the windshield and try to clean it out and re-seal? It looks like a real tender spot to mees with. Thanks - Donnie

Re: Rust between the Drip rail and windshield trim
Yes that is a common rust spot on our trucks, (as well as the entire drip rail as a whole) due to never getting cleaned of dirt / leaves / etc.
I used the opportunity to put another windshield in when I repaired the same place on my truck. At least put a new gasket in if your windshield is ok.

Any thoughts on repairing this, or is this one of those "find a new cab" situations. If my headliner wasn't installed I would be able to see daylight through my drip rail.

Mine was "bondoable" (new word for wiki) LOL. Several here have undergone the work of replacing that piece of metal. Look for our member "Nataliesbump" (I believe the username is correct...up in Michigan. Dave has just gone through that repair if memory serves me correctly.

It looks like it could be a pretty serious repair, I was just curious what it involved.

Had to go back through four pages of "project threads" to find him. And i had his username wrong. Check out how Dave did it, or maybe PM him:

And a lot of guys will do away with the drip rail altogether.
