F600 crew cab project
I bought a 68-72 F600 crew cab with all the doors the other day (just the cab & doors). I haven't had time to pick it up because the day I bought it they were booked up and couldn't get to taking the cab loose. I want to drop it on a F350 chassis or maybe a dodge chassis and make this a crew cab short bed truck. I know the front cab mounts are different than a f100-350, but what about the back mounts? I know the colum goes through the floor but is the floor pans the same as the F100-350 just with a hole for the column? The only rust in the truck is the driver side floor pan and a bad spot on the driver side drip rail. When I get time ( We are working 56-60 a week) to go pick it up after work I will get some pics. Any feedback or idea are always welcome.

Sounds like a cool project. Cant help much with whats different on them, I drove one 25 years ago all the time towing a backhoe around to different jobs but its hard to remember whats different from pick-up cabs. Ill never forget that big azz steering wheel though.

Re: F600 crew cab project
I got the cab home today and started taking pictures and measurements. That I'll post later. How do I move this to the projects thread forum?

Re: F600 crew cab project
I will have to modify the trans tunnel when I get the cab on the frame with the motor and transmission I'm going to use. The floor palns are the same except for the hole for the steering colum. Since my driver side floor pan needs fixed anyway I will fill the steering column hole with the new floor board. I will also remove the F600 cab mounts since the driver side is shot and replace them with the pickup style cab mounts. As for the rear cab mount crossmember I havent decided to cut it down, box it in and reinforce it or just drill out the spot welds and replace it with one off a f100-350. As for the brakes and pedals is still up in the air. I have a few options and not sure just yet. Im wanting to run my 393 out of my 68 F100 with a little milder cam and a M5R2 transmission. The M5 has a hydualic clutch so I'm thinking about custom Wilwood pedals and master cylinders.

Came factory without a dash pad. Those heavy old seats someone threw in are now scraped!

Cab looks to be in pretty good shape, a little surface rust other than the floor board. Never knew the trans cover was that big on those. Is the fire wall different from pick-ups or is it just the picture

The holes are in different places on the big trucks. I'm just going to weld them up and make my own. The pedal hanger is different also along with the pedals. Im going hyd clutch so I don't think I'll use those pedals either.
