Where can I find a tailgate for my dump bed?

Post by Lebowski »

I have a '72 F-350 with a 9 foot dump bed. The bottom of the tailgate has rusted through and it won't close tightly anymore. The company that made it-J&J Bodies of Somerset, PA doesn't make them anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find a used one? I think the one on there now is too far gone to be repaired. Thanks....

with a torch and welder that could probably just be rebuilt. or a whole new one made from scratch. its not like its a fender or floor pan. and hard to weld on. or even cutting down one from a big dump truck might be an option.

If the bottom is all thats rusted out than carrie it by a welding shop and ask how much it would be to repaired. Ive seen tailgates on dumptrucks way worse than that be fixed before. Check around your area, theres always welders that do side work to make extra money at there homes. Should only take 4-5 hours to replace the bottom with a new piece.
