Looking for a Gray / Blue

Post by marvin2 »

I am currently thinking along the lines of a gray blue / steel blue / tired blue for my truck. Very similar to these photos. Are the bumps in these pics "Harbor Blue"? (I've seen several Harbor Blue pics online and some seem to match this color while others are brighter, close to a Grabber Blue). There are also some pics of an older 59...not sure of the exact color. If you have some suggestions on a similar color, throw them out there (doesn't have to be a stock Ford color)...thanks.

Horizon Blue is a good option...pretty close to the color on the 59 above. Thanks! Any other takers?

When I ordered my truck in '05, I almost got this color because it looks so great in direct sunlight.

It's called Medium Wedgewood Blue Metallic, I know Ford used it at least in 2005-2006. But be careful, I think they also used a Deep Wedgewood on the older F150's, but that's a darker blue.

Just do a Google-Images search and find some examples.

Good Luck!

That's a good lookin' blue!...plus I would prefer to paint my truck a Ford color rather than a Chevy color.

Those blues on the f150's are metallic. I may be too much of a purist when it comes to bumps but they do not look right with metallic paint IMO.

I think the color you're looking for is "Winter Blue" or "Brittany Blue". The Brittany Blue is a bit more grey and the Winter Blue is more of a medium, true blue.

There was also a "Sky View Blue" (offered in '68-69), which looking at the paint chips, is probably a pretty good match to what you want... PPG #12997 / Sherwin Williams #1919
