The stripper discs are probably something available at the local menards, lowes, etc?

Yes...heck, probably even your local hardware store. They're a popular item.

When your done stripping be sure to degrease completely, then apply a good quality wash primer or acid etch primer as soon as possible. Stay away from spray cans they won't bite into the metal good enough.

I picked up a stripper disc. Hopefully I'll try it out in the next day or so

The stripper disc works pretty well. I was starting to think it was a little slow until I had to use a wire wheel in some tight spots. Its much faster than a wire wheel.
