Stock or bone stock??

Post by Timbo »

I am restoring my 69 f250 camper special. (see my f250 frame off) post for pics. Anyway, I don't think I want to put on the dietz camper lights that were standard on the truck. Also I am thinking of removing the strap hooks that are on the outside of the bed. Question; will this compromise the true restoration of the truck if I try and sell it? All thoughts and opinions are welcome.
Thanks,
Tim

Tim, it's all up to you! If you're building the truck to sell as an all original, then remove these items. Will deleting them increase the trucks value? I'm not certain, but I doubt it would sway a buyer one way or the other.

If you're building the truck to own, use and enjoy, well then do whatever you want as it's your truck and it's great you're keeping an old truck on the road and NOT in next month's shipment of crap from China.

My opinion is let the concours original types do the high end restorations on rare vehicles, and leave pickups to us blue collar types to use as they were designed to be used...as work horses, with tie downs and clearance lights.

Thanks for the thoughts Larry. If the price is right I will sell it after I finish. If not I plan on driving it for another 42 years! I think I will leave the hooks on and leave off the dietz lights.
BTW I can't wait to drive it!! :D

Hey Timbo...found your thread this morning and discovered there's another Tim in Tejas with a 69 F250 on the board/forum. Cool. Can you put some pix of your truck in this thread...would love to see it. I've been working on my F250 since Christmas...almost there except for future repaint. My old man used to call me Timbo, but he's been gone since '06...so I had to post since that is your username.
