Rubber Hood Bumpers

Post by 19agin »

Does anyone have or has anyone tried using rubber bumpers under the corners of your hood? At highway speeds, mine really gets to moving up and down on the front corners. My latch is tight and everything appears to be adjusted correctly, but there is about a quarter inch of movement up and down at highway speeds. I've noticed some paint chipping off in this area on both the hood and fenders. Just wondering if anyone has tried using rubber bumpers in this area. Just to be clear, the entire hood is not moving up and down, just the corners, one at a time, like a see saw movement.

This one had me scratching my head as I knew there was something there. I'll look tomorrow to see if mine are still intact LOL.
Here's a picture of one of two different hood bumpers DC has listed for our bumps:

That's the one's I have on my '70. They're pretty worn and I was going to replace them when I get to the hood in my build. My hood rides pretty stable but you can push it up and down about 1/8 - 1/4". My hinges are good and tight so I guess they keep it lifted just a hair so it doesn't bounce or rattle.
