So I'm getting close to getting my late grandfather's '68 F250 (Ranger XLT) back on the road. It is currently green and white... Door tag says it was originally red, anyway the question is I found a nice red, Habanero metallic, which is factory for the newer Honda Civics and Wimbledon White. I plan on keeping the scheme the same (white roof and lower body w/red in the middle) but I don't quite know just how the metallic will fit with the non metallic as I can't seem to recall ever seeing such a combo.
Thanks guys.

well it shouldnt be that bad lookin if you ask me it would make the metallic in the red pop more but you can add a couple of drops of like a silver paint with metallic to the clear it wouldnt change your white if you didnt get carried away with it but it would add a small amount of metallic to the white if thats what your after

Re: Metallic paint question
Honestly, a red metallic with a solid white would look pretty dang hot. The white would make that red pop so nice, especially if it has a heavier metal flake to it.
Adding metallic to the white might make it look not so white.

Rules of picking colors so your truck doesn't look like it belongs in the circus:
1 met. 1 solid:
The darker color should be met. and be the main color.
2 met.:
They should have the same size flake and be similar in color ( subtle two tone )
1 met. 1 pearl
White pearl is good with darker Met. Use a bright white with a fine pearl.

Re: Metallic paint question
When I have customers come to me with specific colors they want I usually paint some sprayout cards or tin cans the colors they want. I tell them to put them in a place that they will look at a lot every day. Like on their dash or on the t.v. after a week or two of staring at the colors they have the answers. they either love it or hate it. I would ask your painter for some spray out cards. And don't forget lots of two tones are metalic main colors with white secondary colors.(look at all those f150's in the 80's and 90's).You can't go wrong with red and white! Good luck.
