Tailgate lettering

Post by Ford110 »

I'm painting my 67 red and would like to paint the ford letters on the tailgate white.

Are there stencils or decals that will make this job easier? Where can i get some?

Thanks

I just taped the letters off, using a knife to cut the tape nice and close to the letter edges. It turned out pretty well.

Yea, spray the letters first. Then tape letters off after they are dry. Then spray the truck.

I've asked the vinyl company if they can do it in masking vinyl - we'll wait for their reply ...

I found this shop online that makes the letters in die cast vinyl, in different colors. I posted pics of my truck with them below. I've had them for a few years now, no issues. When you open the web page, scroll down to see pics and descriptions/pricing.

Thank you for posting that link!! I had been thinking about painting mine for a while but dont plan on doing a pro paint job of my truck for a while and was looking for a temporary way to do it and see if I like the look of it (going with black letters). This is the perfect solution. For $20, I can do this for the next couple of years until I get the truck professionally painted.

Thanks again for linking this!! Just ordered a set!

Never really looked into this before, but happened to be shopping in the NPD online catalog and see that they also carry the lettering:

Thats cool...I have been running vinyl lettering and blackout panel on my mustang for years without any issue. It would be cool doing the FORD lettering in vinyl, just to have the option of changing it every once in a while.

Most all truck vendors have them in stock.
I got mine at Dennis Carpenters.
