Custom Cab or camper special??

Post by Jtorres »

So I'm currently in the process of restoring my truck and I have been wondering this for a while. I'm the second owner and when I bought this truck my uncle told me it was a camper special. When I got the build sheet from it made no mention it was a camper special or a custom cab even though it had some if not all the options for them. On top of that the emblems where not there but the truck was repainted. So as I progress with restore trying to figure out if my truck was a custom cab or a camper special or both has been very difficult. Granted the only thing I need is the emblems. So my question is could the custom cab or camper special options been added at the dealership when bought? And how come I cannot buy reproduction camper special emblems for my 1967 truck then. Thanks for the feed back....

if you got the build sheet directly from ford then that may say why it doesnt mention some options. a true camper special i think would have the wiring under the bed for the camper to plug into. in 1967 custom cab was a step up from the standard cab. and then the ranger package after that. i think the camper special package wasnt a trim package. it was heavier duty springs engine size and things like that. i am unsure about 67 having stock cs badges or not. i havent read up about that. i dont think those badges were introduced until later on. if your goign ofr a correct restoration. i woul dlook at several things. the 67 brochures inthe factory literature section. http://www.fordification.com/library/main.php the 67 factory repair manuals. and then get a marti report. http://www.martiauto.com 67 only http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... per-Sp.jpg

one more from the library. http://www.fordification.com/library/ma ... itemId=286

Thanks Fordman, I will check out the web site martiauto and the pages on this site. My only question left is could you still add on to the truck at the dealership?

you could put the emblem on anytime. and maybe a dealer would put it on for you. i guess that would depend on the dealer. but the emblem wouldnt mean anything if that was done. consider this. i have a custom cab 1971 F100 4wd. i swapped cabs with a cs so now my custon cab now has the cowl emblems on that say it was a camper special. when it isnt. only the cab was.
