Flat or glossy black rims?

Post by TorFromNor »

Hi!

I have a set of wide steelies for my '68 Ranger. I'm having problems deciding if they shold be flat or glossy, they are off to get powdercoated in the near future.
What do you guys think? The truck is a two tone white and blue and I'm planning for baby moons or perhaps some original Ford hubcaps?

I have also considered a flat primer red with a set of white walls....

I'd love to get your opinions on this

White rims, hmm... Guess you have to remember that I live in Norway, just about anything to do with a bump is breaking new ground :D
Any thought on silver or dark grey? I have a sweet spot for gunmetal grey actually, but that might look better on alloys.

I have 4 turbine style wide alloys sitting in the attic that might need some treatment to, maybe mask off the flat spoke surface to accent them with a darker colour on the other surfaces.. :hmm:

A glossy gunmetal gray would look really good too IMO .

Whichever color you decide to go with, I say gloss is the way to go. Gunmetal gloss actually sounds like it would look pretty good with the color of your truck :D

I'm leaning towards glossy myself, I have a '68 VW Roadster in flat OD (multi spectral camoflage, NATO standard :D ) with WIDE flat black rims. They collect all sorts of road crud and they are not the easiest to clean... But when it IS clean, it looks real mean! It's like not reflecting sunlight suggest there's something sinister about it. 8)

I was hoping the wide steelies and a change of stance might give my bump some attitude. It sits about level to the ground now, I was thinking of raising it an inch in the rear.
It looks so damn gentle in that white and blue two-tone... Im not looking to make it look so mean you hold on to your wallet or hurry the kids inside when I pass by, just not as "nice" as it looks now.

These look Awesome, if your truck is blue on top and white on the bottom I would go with this style. If it's white on the top I would go white.
